The 1/31/23 Health & Science section of the Washington Post had an article about balance. Michele Stanten, the author, states that one in four people over 65 falls each year, twenty percent resulting in serious injury.
Fortunately there is something we can do about this. Michele lists studies that show how we can reduce the risk of falling with yoga and exercise.
As a person who has fallen, I can speak from experience. In addition to outer ways to keep balanced, I need inner ways. I need to be mindful of my intentions.
In our yoga practice this week we will have a particular focus on balance and on being mindful of our intentions.
Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. --Albert Einstein
Our intention creates our reality. – Wayne Dyer
Honor thy error as a hidden intention. -- Brian Eno
Each decision we make, each action we take, is born out of an intention. --Sharon Salzberg
