Yoga is an energy management system called nadis. Yoga poses, breathing practices and mudras are practiced to build awareness of blockages or challenges of the nadis. This is step one. Often there can be emotional and physical holding in this area that can contribute to physical and energetic binding. After cultivating an awareness of the subtle body, one can then apply yoga poses and pranayama to effect change. The pelvis is the transmission station of the feet and legs to communicate with the upper body. And the pelvic floor is the seat of the root chakra which is usually associated with the earth element.
