New Workshop!
Spring Expansion Workshop
with James Foulkes
As the days become warmer and brighter, nature rouses from her winter slumber and looks ahead to the new growth of Spring. This is the season to plant seeds for a future harvest and determine our direction and action for the coming expansive months. Focused intent enhances our ability to envision possibilities and weave our dreams.
These seasonal workshops offer an opportunity to harmonize your body/mind with the cyclic rhythm of the seasons. Spring is the most potent season for cleansing and detoxification and is associated with the Wood Element in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In this workshop, we are to focus on rejuvenating and invigorating the Organs and Meridians (energy channels) of the Wood Element – the Liver and Gall Bladder – and the transformation of their negative emotional characteristics…Anger and Frustration to Acceptance and Kindness.
The Wood energy of Spring is an expression of life and growth at its strongest. To balance the Yin nature of the gentle cleansing stretches and breathwork, we will explore a variety of dynamic sequences – expansive and opening movements with a vigorous and stimulating approach; embodying a surge of rising energy like the dandelion whose growing edge can burst through concrete if it must.

Dear friends and WSY community,
We hope this message and the new year finds you healthy and well during these challenging and historic times.
We continue to find ourselves in this changing circumstance where balancing our safety and supporting our desire to come together are currently not in harmony. Willow Street Yoga will extend our brief pause of in-person classes in response to the current high COVID case numbers. We feel that this pause is the most socially-responsible action our studio can take to help slow the spread of this variant. We know this will be frustrating for some of you, and we really appreciate your flexibility.
Just like all of our challenges, we will ride this wave of Omicron together. We will reassess the situation in early February and very much hope to open back up for in-person classes at that point. Although this pause of in-person classes feels reminiscent of 2020 to many of us, we now collectively know so much more about the virus and have additional tools to help us stay safe. It has been so gratifying to come back together in person, and we are confident that we will be able to practice in the studio again very soon.
Until that point, please join us and find your harmony practicing with us over Zoom in one of our wonderful 35 weekly online classes. We continue to develop and expand our offerings at WSY – we are very pleased to welcome back Morgan Similuk for Pre-Natal Yoga on Tuesdays at 5pm and we will be getting our meditation challenge back going soon (watch this space). We also always welcome any suggestions you might have to better serve you.
Thank you for all you do and share, and thank you for your patience and flexibility as we figure out this newest incarnation of the school we call Willow Street Yoga.

I wish so much we could meet in person, but for the safety and wellbeing of all of us, the class will be on Zoom for now. That may not be your favorite way to take class, but let me tell you, it is way better than no yoga at all! In fact, you may find doing yoga in your own home, without the need for travel, may have its advantages, if you give it a chance.

This will be a gentle class where you can rest and restore, relax and let go, some of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself at this time of year. And with Omicron breathing down our necks, a gentle yoga class may not only help strengthen the immune system but also relieve anxiety and improve mood, something most of us could use right now.

These online gentle classes will include lots of supine stretches and twists, some sitting and standing poses,Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep), restoratives, yogic breathwork, and meditation (not all in the same class!) The online classes will be a little shorter than the in-person classes —  from 11am until 12:15pm.

So please consider coming tomorrow and invite anyone you know who could use a healing, relaxing, loving gift to themselves.
