Anusara Yoga Retreat for Spirited Women over 45 with Suzie Hurley & Betsey Downing, Ph.D. at Xinalani Retreat Center on the coast of Western Mexico

Join Betsey and Suzie for a weeklong adventure into Anusara yoga, meditation, pranayama and sharing. As Wild, Wonderful and Wise women we will explore the challenges and triumphs of getting older. Through accessing our courage and enthusiasm for life from the deeper practices of connecting to the Divine, we will nourish and empower ourselves, and share our gifts with other Spirited Women.

Xinalani Retreat is set amongst 10 acres of lush jungle facing the Pacific Ocean, 25 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We will fly into PV, and take a 30 minute boatride to Xianalani.

The Retreat
- begins with dinner on Saturday night and ends with breakfast the following Saturday.
- includes two intermediate-level Anusara yoga classes daily: 9:00am-noon and 4:30-6:30pm.
- provides ample time to relax as well as enjoy the delightful beauty of Xinalani and the Pacific coast.
- includes 3 deliciously prepared meals each day.
- afternoon classes are quieter and include some meditation, pranayama, and journaling.
- includes an abbreviated schedule on Wednesday in order to accommodate field trips to explore the area.

Anusara Yoga
Anusara means “to be in the flow of your own Essence” and is one of the most spiritually inspiring, therapeutically effective, and physically transformative styles of hatha yoga. Developed by master teacher John Friend, it is now one of the fastest growing styles of yoga in the world. It attracts yogis of all levels with its light-hearted yet profound celebration of the human spirit and its deeply therapeutic power. The Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment allow the body, breath, and spirit to align with the power of Grace, so that we can tap into our potential for a full and radiant life.

Be prepared for intermediate level asana classes covering a variety of poses including some challenging back bends, arm balances, and inversions. Props are provided but most people like to bring their own sticky mat.

Suzie and Betsey
Suzie and Betsey are known for their ability to break down even difficult asanas into accessible parts, through Progressive Teaching. The level of asana will skillfully progress each day, each class building on the previous, culminating in a deep feeling of self-empowerment for all.

Suzie and Betsey, with over 60 years of yoga and meditation experience between them, will inspire you to challenge your edges both on and off the mat and fly above your fears. Their masterful guidance through the week will lead you to new places in the depth of your self-acceptance and the height of your potential.
