Teacher Feature Winter 2003:
Anna Sullivan - What does Yoga mean to Me?
Yoga to me is an adventure! Yoga has given me the opportunity to explore a spiritual dimension within myself that allows me to put all my cards on the table and to trust that whatever the deck deals will be sufficient enough to stay in the game. Yoga has given me the ability to express myself wholeheartedly. With that in mind, let me give it a go...

Before I will go on
I must explain, I do
That whatever is my answer
To Willow Street, I’m new.

Being playful as you see
Is one of my better perks
My perspective exclaims a "yes"
To life’s more trivial quirks.

So, this question for the obvious
Must be answered as you see
Can you imagine a yoga teacher
Without a true love of Thee?

My love of yoga, it’s apparent
The explanation quite immense
Yoga prepares me to surrender
And awakens deeper sense.

In the beginning of my journey
God was waiting in the bleachers
Grand trainings were in order
Wise words came from many teachers!

Anusara, Sivananda,
PRYT has been my math
They fill my Yoga tool box
And have secured me on my path.

Eight years of study and practice
Has brought me to this place
Meditation, it’s a blessing
Keeps me at a steady pace.

Awareness and acceptance
Bring acknowledgement of the new
To create a simple heart
Yoga’s goodness from me to you.

I have three beautiful children
Who need my hand and heart
Yoga’s teachings, there are many
Infused my mothering part.

I love to see the splendor
Of each new waning day
Yoga gives me patient presence,
And reverence that is here to stay.

Our bodies are our temples
Minds filled with varied thought
Yoga gives me greater insight
From the stores it can’t be bought!

I bow to all my teachers
I sing their loving praise
Of Yoga and it’s foresight
For all my remaining days.

So, therefore I end my saga
Faithful, strong, enriched and true
Simply being in the center
Sharing wealth with all of you!
